2000 Old Vines Merlot

We thought the Wine Advocate had reviewed this wine but can find no record of their write-up.  Still, this is what our seven tasters said:

• Firmer nose than the 1997; slightly darker color too

• Also very soft (tannins) and very smooth (on the palate)

• Cedar & fruit (raspberry); a little brighter fruit than the 1997

• A little more tannin than the 1997

• Very nice

• Good long finish

• Not quite at its peak

• Would be great with steak
